1,2,3 BREATHE
This has been quite an energy-filled past few days, whether it be in relationships, interactions, personally or quite literally. Although it was energy-filled, I personally have felt a bit of heaviness and submission to some much needed rest as well. We must remember that there are cycles throughout the year just as there are throughout each month (moon cycles) and fall and winter are naturally times of hibernation and more internal work and reflection. With this change of seasons, it is important to remember that it's ok to acknowledge and welcome these cycles.
This past weekend began with Halloween (All Hallows Eve or All Saints Eve) and the once in a Full Blue Moon in Taurus. Then we had Daylight Savings Time in the US, the start of the month and All Saints Day. This week began with the start of Dia de Los Muertos on November 1st, which culminated on November 2nd with All Souls Day, leaving us to finish yesterday with Election Day and the end of Mercury retrograde. Phew! A lot right? With the movement of all this energy, it is time to rest and turn inward. We can take so many messages from the natural world and all of the recent events.
These days are full of ups and downs, as is life, and it can be fragile but as a community and with our kaleidoscopes (group of butterflies) we can make it through. Hopefully everyone has been able to fit in a bit of time out in nature and you may have noticed the monarch butterflies migrating throughout October. The culture around October 31st-November 2nd is all about honoring and celebrating departed souls. It is a time to appreciate the cycle of life and look beyond our worldly concerns. It is said that butterflies are the souls and spirits of our ancestors and so it is an unlikely coincidence they have been moving south for the winter during this same time when the veil is at its thinnest. This is a slow and steady migration and it is a reminder that life can be the same, so we must be patient and take things as they come. Every time I see a butterfly (Aponi) I think of free spirits, those that have passed through our lives and how we are all connected. There is so much we can learn from the natural world. Pachamama never ceases to amaze me.
To top it all off the sky has been quite busy as well (astrologically speaking). If you’ve been able to step outside and look up at the moon, you may have also noticed several seemingly bright stars near it. Well these are actually planets and Mars, Mercury and Uranus have all been visible over the last week or so. The alignment and proximity of the planets all has an effect on the energy and internal emotions we may feel. Add in the rare experience of a second full moon in one month, it is understandable if you feel unbalanced or in need of some me time. With this seasonal change and the change any election year brings, it is more important than ever to make sure we practice self-care and appreciate the present moment. As November 3rd brought us the end of the Mercury retrograde, this is a great time to refresh and rejuvenate. Let’s embrace this new month and refocus our energy. Try to spend some time in nature or join us on our next fall hike!
